Our founding story.

Clearing the Fog Therapy grew from Mariah’s dream of creating a practice where families and individuals of diverse identities and cultures could receive inclusive mental health care that feels compassionate, affirming, and respectful of their lived experiences.

Karl the Fog is a familiar presence that rolls over the hills and coastlines of the Bay Area. Sometimes it feels cozy and calm, and other times it makes it hard to see what is ahead. The name Clearing the Fog Therapy honors this familiar part of life in the Bay Area and reflects what the therapeutic process can feel like: working together to gently sort through the mental fog that can build up from stress, anxiety, or life’s challenges, so you can find more clarity, understanding, and space to move forward with confidence.
